The Canadian cottage at the heart of the hit hockey series Heated Rivalry is officially opening its doors to the public. From March, Barlochan Cottage in the Muskokas will be available to rent as a holiday home via short-stay platform Airbnb. The stunning three-bedroom property, where the climactic sixth and final episode of the sports romance series was filmed, offers a taste of quiet luxury in one of Canada’s most incredible counties.

Located on the edge of Lake Muskoka in Ontario, the Heated Rivalry cottage has become synonymous with the breakout sports drama. The series follows rival hockey players Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov; two decorated athletes with a decade-long secret relationship. As the story evolves, we learn more about their journey from enemies to lovers and how career pressures have ultimately impacted their lives.

Since premiering in late November 2025, Heated Rivalry has become a pop-culture phenomenon, averaging 10.6 million US viewers on HBO Max and catapulting stars Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie into the cultural zeitgeist. Moreover, the series has touched on the remarkable scenery and landscape of Canada, most notably Shane’s native Montreal, sending tourism interest to new levels.

Heated Rivalry Cottage

For many fans, the Heated Rivalry cottage has become a source of true fascination. The setting for the series’ blockbuster finale caught major attention after it was revealed that Shane’s stunning property was in fact a real place, albeit in Muskoka and not Montreal. Not that it seems to matter.

Since the finale aired earlier this year, searches for the region have increased by 40 per cent, according to the latest data from Airbnb. It’s not hard to see why. Barlochan Cottage embodies the quintessential Canadian woodland retreat, complete with lakefront access, tranquil scenery and its own fully equipped private gym.

“Rooted in the Canadian tradition of cottage life, this warm, modern home was built with privacy as its cornerstone, where architectural details flow in harmony with the natural surroundings to create a safe space to disconnect and become one with nature,“ Airbnb wrote. “Guests will have the secret hideaway completely to themselves during their stay; the perfect set-up for those who want to stay out of the headlines.“

Amenities

Perched atop almost 400ft of waterfront at Walkers Point, Barlochan Cottage is the ultimate hidden escape. The property boasts three direct access points to Lake Muskoka via either a private dock, rocky waterfront or a beach with sandy shallow entry along the private shoreline. Once you are out on the water, you can take in the scenery on board one of the supplied kayaks or canoes, before retreating back to the fire pit for a cosy night in.

Inside, you’ll find a fully-equipped kitchen set against a stunning lakefront backdrop, a private home gym outfitted with premium equipment, a central indoor fireplace, a state-of-the-art entertainment system and three massive bedrooms. And if you get a little bored in the great indoors, the towns of Gravenhurst and Bala are just 20 minutes away.

The property was built by Trevor McIvor Architect Inc and remarkably, is based on a prefabricated Douglas Fir structure that is wisely anchored by the central granite fireplace. According to the architect, the natural Canadian Shield of the site informed the cottage’s organic shape, with the floor plates stepped down to minimise the building’s impact.

“The design strived to seamlessly integrate structural columns, beams and windows which allowed for an extraordinarily light roof to float and fold like waves above the glazed structure,“ McIvor wrote.

How to Book the Cottage from Heated Rivalry

From March 3, Barlochan Cottage will be available to book as a vacation home on Airbnb, with four long weekend bookings (May 8-10, May 16-18, May 22-24, and May 29-31) up for grabs. Prices start at a very deliberate CAD$248.10, a not-so-subtle reference to Shane and Ilya’s respective jersey numbers. Importantly, the March reservation listing marks just the start of the property’s journey, with Airbnb confirming the Heated Rivalry cottage will be opened for ‘regular bookings’ at some point later this year.

It comes just months after a fan-created Stranger Things house popped-up on Airbnb and the real-life Tudor house from Hamnet also became available for rent.
