If you have never visited the Dolomites, northern Italy’s fabled mountain range, social media might have you believe you are the only one. The spectacular destination, which spans the Veneto, Trentino-Alto Adige and Friuli-Venezia Giulia regions, has fast become one of the world’s foremost adventure outposts. It seems like every time I open my phone, I’m smacked in the face by some incredible view, captured in real-time by the ever-swelling crowd of travel influencers, thrill seekers and nimble-footed retirees. It’s enough to make you wonder if there is any solace left to be found in the Dolomites. Luxury hotel chain Aman has been thinking the same thing.

The international hotelier’s Aman Rosa Alpina property is just about to kick off its first complete summer season, one year after reopening its doors to the public. Back in 2020, operators the Pizzinini family, which has managed the heritage outpost since 1939, entered into a long-term agreement with Aman to redevelop the complex. A comprehensive, multi-year renovation would follow, meticulously led by acclaimed architect Jean-Michel Gathy. Last year, the property reopened for a shortened season, but in 2026, Aman Rosa Alpina is finally firing on all cylinders.

4 Peaks Alta Badia Challenge

Located in the village of San Cassiano in Alta Badia, Aman Rosa Alpina sits on the doorstep of a remarkable region, home to the much-revered 4 Peaks Alta Badia Challenge. Here, adventurers ascend the peaks of Sas dla Crusc, Piza dales Diesc, Lavarela and Conturines, one after another in a massive multi-day expedition that tests both mind and spirit. To mark the launch of the 2026 summer season, Aman Rosa Alpina is putting its own stamp on the classic adventure escape.

The resort is offering guests a rare opportunity to tackle the 4 Peaks Alta Badia in style, through an exclusive four-night, private mountain guide-led package. Aman says the tour is structured to support both preparation and recovery, and includes some jarringly luxurious amenities that aren’t typically found on the mountain.

Guests on the Aman Rosa Alpina 4 Peaks Alta Badia tour will arrive to a welcome drink and a briefing with their private Alpine guide, followed by an à la carte dinner at The Grill before the main summit push the following day. The first full day is devoted to a guided practice ascent, with a 60-minute Sport Recovery treatment at the Aman Spa on return.

The next day is the main event, where you’ll have the opportunity to conquer the four iconic summits, ascending 2,000 metres across marked trails, via ferrata routes and exposed ridgelines. If you manage to make it all the way through in a single day, you walk (or limp) away with the title of the “Alta Badia Mountaineer”.

Dolomites Bike Trails and Tours

Importantly, hiking isn’t the only means of transport around the Dolomites. In recent years, many of the European region’s famous trails, including the Passo di Pordoi, the Marmolada, Passo Gardena and Passo di Campolongo, have opened up to mountain bikes.

The 2026 summer season kicks off with the Sellaronda Bike Day at the beginning of June, a closed-road event encircling the Sella Massif, which is free to enter and requires no registration. From there, the Dolomiti Bike Day again sees the roads cleared for cyclists who traverse the Campolongo, Falzarego and Valparola passes, while the first Sunday of July will see the start of the annual Maratona dles Dolomites race.

Aman Rosa Alpina

The reopening of Aman Rosa Alpina comes at a time when the Dolomites is experiencing mass interest. Hiking and adventure holidays are on the rise and, with the dust still settling on the 2026 Milano-Cortina Winter Games, the region has never been more popular.

Aman’s summer season program obviously caters to the more affluent traveller, offering rare opportunities to participate in some of the area’s most prestigious climbs, trails and hikes without needing to spend hours planning logistics. In a sense, it speaks to a new kind of luxury, where experiences eclipse amenities and the real benefit is peace of mind. Just remember to bring your phone, after all, if you don’t take photos, it never happened.

The Aman Rosa Alpina summer season officially kicks off in June 2026. Bookings for the 4 Peaks Alta Badia Challenge are available from June to September, with further tours on offer throughout the program dates.
