For close to 40 years, one name has been synonymous with design-led luxury travel. From discreet sanctuaries set in exotic regions like Bhutan and Cambodia, to sprawling urban oases in the heart of New York City, hotelier-turned-lifestyle brand Aman has made a habit out of blending cultural curiosity with contemporary luxury. Its latest offering could well be the most unique.
Amangiri in Southern Utah’s Canyon Country has officially launched its first six-bedroom villa. Set on 3.5 hectares of untouched desert wilderness, complete with its own spa, gym and 36-metre pool, the villa is unlike anything the region has seen before. From the central position, you can enjoy unobstructed views of the rich desert terrain, marvel in the tranquillity of the Mountain West region or stare out at the wind-carved ochre cliff faces of the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument.

Amangiri Six-Bedroom Villa
Designed by Marwan Al-Sayed of MASASTUDIO, one of the original architects of Amangiri back in 2009, the new six-bedroom villa follows a familiar desert modernism theme, but there is a distinct change of pace here. The vast open-plan layout flows naturally into living and dining spaces, mirroring the ease with which the low-lying forms rise imperceptibly from the land just outside the door.
While the announcement of the new six-bedroom villa is a big win for desert travellers and fans of the world’s best hotels, it does represent somewhat of a fresh start for the resort. Originally opened in 2009 with 34 suites, Amangiri quickly became a favourite amongst influencers and celebrities, prompting the luxury hotelier to expand.
That surge led to the introduction of Camp Sarika, a laid-back nature experience housed within 10 free-standing tented pavilions. A slightly more rugged and rural offering with a luxury edge, Camp Sarika was designed to provide an unparalleled base for journeys through the untouched wilderness of the Old West.

New Amenities
Amangiri’s six-bedroom villa moves in the complete opposite direction. Described as a ‘uniquely private sanctuary from which to explore Amangiri’, the property features a dining court, covered lounge and 36-metre swimming pool that integrate seamlessly with the topography. The primary bedroom also scores its own private courtyard and heated pool, while a dedicated spa with steam room, sauna and private fitness studio overlooks the neighbouring sandstone cliffs.
Guests also have access to private experiences like a personal chef, movement practices and spa treatments. There is even a dedicated villa host who will help to plan bespoke menus and a custom itinerary. Of course, if that’s not enough, the resort’s 2,300-square-metre Aman Spa, dining venues and desert adventures are just a stone’s throw or a short electric golf cart ride away.

Designing For Nature
As you might expect, there is a near-endless number of activities up for grabs at the luxury resort, but the true star attraction is the natural environment itself. The property works closely with partners from the Navajo Nation to provide authentic experiences that delve into the remarkable natural history of the Utah desert. Through cultural activations like dreamcatcher workshops and hoop dancing performances, villa guests can connect with the land in a way that feels warm, inviting and culturally rich.
“Through an architectural expression shaped by the desert itself, the villa fosters a rare sense of belonging and understanding of its environment, allowing those who experience the villa to feel deeply anchored in place,“ Amangiri wrote. “Sheltered terraces and walled gardens anchor the architecture in a timeless, tranquil sense of place, while vast planes of glass frame sweeping views of the ever-present rock formations and draw the ever-shifting desert light into the villa.“

Much like PLAT ASIA’s recent Volcano-In Hotel of Arrivals or One&Only Kéa Island, the integration of the natural element into the design is what makes Amangiri such a stunning work of contemporary art. The new villa, and indeed every suite on the sprawling grounds, flows naturally with the shifting and sweeping environment below. Famously, Amangiri’s central pool is built around a protruding rock formation that reminded the original owners of the Colorado River’s Horseshoe Bend, again reinforcing the historical nods to America’s Old West.
In the new villa, the harmony between design and nature is undeniable. Blonde walnut, stained cypress and sand-toned concrete define the minimal interiors, while the open-plan design feels like a tasteful reinterpretation of the vastness of Southern Utah’s desert landscape.
“This carefully conceived material palette of wood, stone and concrete mirrors that of the surrounding resort, encapsulating Amangiri’s delicate balance between built and natural environments,“ the resort explained. ”Designed for real living, the villa’s layout encourages daily routines and shared rituals, evoking
the feeling of a private desert home.”

Amangiri’s ‘Next Chapter‘
Importantly, the villa represents the start of a new chapter for the world-renowned resort, marking the first of 12 new private residences slated to open in the coming years. According to Aman, the new branded residences mark a new chapter for the iconic resort as it continues to evolve and elevate the guest experience, introducing one of the most exceptional and refined private residence offerings in the region.
Don’t think they will come cheap, however. Initial reports suggest that a nightly stay at the six-bedroom Amangiri villa will set you back around USD$64,000. For more information on Amangiri or the new six-bedroom villa, visit the Aman website.
