When Regent Bali Canggu opened its doors last year, the luxury travel industry took note. The 150-room, WATG Architects-designed hotel‘s sprawling oasis of natural light, stone textures and teak flooring was enough to garner global attention, rocketing up the list of the world’s best hotels. Less than one year on, travellers have even more reason to make their way to Bali.

Regent Bali Canggu has unveiled the world’s first Regent Spa & Wellness, marking what it describes as a “defining moment” in the continued evolution of the brand. Set between the Indian Ocean and Bali’s terraced rice fields, the ultra-luxurious spa offers a range of sensory treatments, each drawing from the region’s rich history of enduring wellness traditions. It’s a blend, general manager Manish Puri explains, of time-honoured practices and contemporary innovation.

Bali Canggu,“ Puri said. “We invite curious minds, soul-seekers and wellness lovers to experience something rare: not just rest, but a chance to ignite their spark.“

World’s First Regent Spa & Wellness

For the IHG Hotels & Resorts-owned property, the new spa offering is a welcome addition. The Regent brand has undergone a series of upgrades and revitalisations in recent years, with the Canggu hotel now boasting an exclusive experience. Designed by IHG’s dedicated wellness specialists, Raison d’Etre, the treatment list is built on a philosophy of “sensorial, indulgent, and deeply restorative” journeys. So, what does that actually mean?

For guests, the whole process begins with a pre-treatment ritual. When you enter the spa, you are invited into The Reset, an open-air self-guided meditation that is complemented by an immersive soundscape experience by OPO Studios. Designed to still the mind and prepare you for the upcoming indulgence, the pre-treatment experience is largely a solo endeavour, which Tanisha Lo, director of Spa at Regent Spa & Wellness revealed is essential to the process.

“The Reset pod experience before each treatment is a real game-changer,“ she said. “We believe
that when the mind is stilled, the senses awaken; and in this amplified state, guests can feel more,
experience deeper, and leave truly transformed, extending the impact of the treatment far beyond the
spa itself.“

From there, you can enjoy crystal-based massages performed on a warm quartz sand bed, healing zen rituals that “address the modern burden of stress” through rhythmic touch and conscious breathwork, or LED light therapy and EMS technology-backed facial treatments. And if your little one is already grappling with the stresses of modern life, you can even book in for a side-by-side ‘Together Massage’ for parent and child.

Wellness Travel on the Rise

The announcement of the new Regent Spa & Wellness offering speaks to a growing interest in wellness-based travel. Bali, in particular, has emerged as a destination where guests are increasingly prioritising self-care, opting for retreats, massage packages and all-day relaxation experiences.

According to Tom Rowntree, vice president of global luxury brands at IHG Hotels & Resorts, travellers want a fully-immersive wellness experience that can be personalised or tailored to their specific needs.
