Oris Big Crown Pointer Date 'Bullseye' Price Sustralia Confirmed

Oris Big Crown Pointer Date ‘Bullseye’ Nails Affordable Luxury

  • Swiss watchmaker Oris has unveiled a retro-inspired take on its much-loved Big Crown model.
  • The Big Crown Pointer Date ‘Bullseye’ takes inspiration from classic Pointer Date models, and features a bold two-tone dial highlighted by red accents.
  • The model measures 38mm in diameter and is powered by the Calibre 754-1 automatic movement.
  • Priced at AUD$3,800, the Oris Big Crown Pointer Date ‘Bullseye’ is among the best value luxury watches released in 2026.

It has been more than 70 years since the first Oris Big Crown Pointer Date hit the market and yet somehow, the watch feels as modern as ever. With a classic dial layout, cathedral hands and a turned bezel, the Pointer Date eschews conventional trends in favour of a more timeless approach. As a self-confessed vintage fanatic, it’s hardly a surprise that this model ranks well above the Swiss watchmaker’s other, arguably more notable, collections. To start 2026, Oris may have just released my favourite version yet.

Oris Big Crown Pointer Date ‘Bullseye’

The Oris Big Crown Pointer Date ‘Bullseye’ is the latest take on the classic model, which dates back to 1938, however, its influences run even deeper. Featuring a familiar design emboldened by a cool grey and black dial layout, oversized crown, fluted bezel, pointer date hand and red detailing, the new timepiece harks back to the early 1910s– when the ‘Bullseye’ layout first appeared on an Oris pocket watch.

For the 2026 edition, Oris has kept the specifications retro-infused. The stainless steel Big Crown Pointer Date ‘Bullseye’ measures 38mm in diameter and just 12.2mm thick, making it a relatively streamlined variation by modern standards. Of course, the eponymous big crown makes its presence felt on the right side, while the signature fluted bezel on top is unmistakeable.

As far as eye-catching elements go, however, it’s hard to go past the red date scale that appears atop the black and white dial. Fusing this lovely vintage element with red accents gives it an almost roulette-inspired final look that wouldn’t seem out of place in Casino Royale or the original Ocean’s Eleven.

If you haven’t seen this function before, it’s worth a look. The dial’s wide black ring forms the base for the Arabic hour numerals, while the black printed minute/seconds track is surrounded by the red date scale around the dial’s perimeter. Reading this function is remarkably simple. The date hand, which stands out immediately due to the unique shape of the red tip, points to the date in question, while a thin central hand indicates the seconds.

Inside, the new Oris Big Crown Pointer Date ‘Bullseye’ is powered by the calibre 754-1 movement. An automatic power source, it is based on the Sellita SW200-1, albeit with a modified pointer date complication and red Oris rotor. It operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour, has 26 jewels, and offers a 41-hour power reserve.

Thoughts on the Oris Big Crown Pointer Date ‘Bullseye’

The latest release not only speaks to the ageless appeal of the Pointer Date, but also to the importance of restraint. Last year at Watches & Wonders, Oris unveiled a slew of new Big Crown models that riffed on retro styling, albeit more streamlined and simplified. While popular, the release certainly left me wondering if Oris was looking to re-engineer some of its classic timepieces for the modern age.

The Big Crown Pointer Date ‘Bullseye’ essentially proves this, but in a far more subtle and refined fashion than I was expecting. The design feels very much like a continuation of the classic watch, rather than a recreation or homage.

The 38mm diameter lands perfectly in that retro-inspired range, and the Bullseye dial is a faithful reimagining of an Oris pocket watch from the 1910s. The references are thoughtful, well-placed and offer enough history to satisfy the vintage hunters without alienating the contemporary fans. It’s a delicate balancing act, but one that Oris has managed to achieve with remarkable nuance and, most importantly, a great price point.
