Mondrian Gold Coast Sky House

Mondrian’s Newest Residence is Perched 24 Storeys Above the Gold Coast

Perched high above Burleigh, Mondrian Sky House hides a new style of Gold Coast luxury.
  • Luxury hotel Mondrian Gold Coast has officially opened its much-anticipated Sky House suite.
  • The 320-square-metre penthouse-style residence is located on Level 24 of the Burleigh property and offers uninterrupted 180-degree views stretching from Moreton Bay to Burleigh Headland.
  • The new residence was designed by Los Angeles-based Studio Carter and features three king-sized ensuite bedrooms, expansive indoor living and dining zones, as well as an open-plan alfresco balcony.
  • The Sky House at Mondrian Gold Coast is priced from $4,500 per night with bookings available now.

It has been less than a year since internationally-recognised luxury hotel Mondrian flung open the doors to its first Australian property, but already the group is expanding. Not outwards, but skywards. The group has this week lifted the covers on its most ambitious Australian residence to date, unveiling a first look at the stunning Sky House suite at Mondrian Gold Coast.

Perched 24 floors above the Burleigh streetscape, the 320-square-metre penthouse-style residence is a sprawling coastal hub that feels more like a rooftop bar than your stock-standard hotel suite. Five-metre-high floor-to-ceiling glass windows dominate the exterior façade, granting guests a ludicrously uninterrupted 180-degree vista of the Gold Coast shoreline, with views stretching as far as Moreton Bay. For travellers, it might well be the best viewpoint in Burleigh, but for Mondrian, the Sky House is so much more.

Sky House at Mondrian Gold Coast

Described as the hotel’s ‘most extraordinary residential offering‘, the new residence takes a decidedly more homely approach, despite its enormous size. The Sky House fuses Mondrian’s signature style of luxury living with a more relaxed, contemporary Gold Coast aesthetic, characterised by flowing open spaces and rich, light-filled rooms.

Conceived by Los Angeles-based design firm Studio Carter, the same team responsible for the hotel’s accommodation, the residence aims to merge ‘sculptural form, organic materiality and refined restraint‘ with the drama of its natural surroundings. According to the design team, the Sky House is meant to feel both monumental and intimate.

Nowhere is this dichotomy better explored than in the three monster king-sized ensuite bedrooms. Each comes complete with an array of natural amenities, including stone countertops, rich natural wood cabinetry and marble finishes in the bathroom. These private sanctuaries offer a dedicated space to unwind, free from the hustle and bustle of the outside world, but they are a rarity in the Sky House.

Gold Coast Luxury

Outside of the bedroom suites, privacy gives way to entertainment. The Sky House is dominated by a large open-plan design driven by expansive indoor living and dining zones tailor-made for big family meals or shared events. From here, the layout extends onto a large alfresco balcony that Mondrian explains is intended for entertaining, providing the perfect vantage point to enjoy the stunning backdrop of the Pacific Ocean.

Of course, you’ll also find an entertainer’s kitchen and full-sized personal bar at the centre of the residence, along with a powder room and in-residence laundry amenities. It’s an important distinction. While Mondrian Gold Coast is, by its very definition, a hotel designed for short-stay travellers, the Sky House plays to a different rulebook. The kitchen, laundry facilities and large-scale bedrooms speak to the residence’s welcoming approach. In a very real way, it feels like a fully realised private home, just 24 storeys in the sky and replete with more luxury additions than Elizabeth Taylor’s jewellery box.

If you do get a chance to enjoy the Sky House in full, you’ll also have access to Mondrian Gold Coast’s extensive range of personalised services. From a personal host for the duration of your stay and private airport transfers to daily à la carte breakfast at LiTO and a curated pantry pack on arrival, the hotel goes all out for its sky-high guests.

As the final touch on the already stellar Mondrian Gold Coast address, the Sky House is a welcome addition to the Burleigh skyline. It anchors the property’s premium residential portfolio and, as you might expect, it has a price tag to match. The Sky House at Mondrian Gold Coast is priced at $4,500 per night, a jump of over $1,000 from the hotel’s Three-Bedroom Beach House and Three-Bedroom Ocean Homes. Bookings are available now with more information available via the Mondrian website.
