Swatch x Guggenheim Collection

The Swatch x Guggenheim Collection comprises four unique watches, each based on a masterpiece currently on display in the Guggenheim’s permanent collection. They include; Edgar Degas’ ‘Dancers in Green and Yellow’ (1903), Claude Monet’s ‘The Palazzo Ducale, Seen from San Giorgio Maggiore’ (1908), Paul Klee’s ‘The Bavarian Don Giovanni’ (1919) and Jackson Pollock’s ‘Alchemy’ (1947).

Using the artwork as a starting point, each watch playfully translates the colour and composition onto the dial and polymer strap. The vibrant brushstrokes and idiosyncratic techniques of each painter are faithfully transposed, giving each watch an unmistakable finish. In a subtle nod to the transatlantic connection between Venice and New York, where the pieces are sourced, all watches in the collection feature a common design element: a double-length second hand.

Outside of the aesthetic, Swatch hasn’t deviated too much from its classic design language. Degas’ Dancers and Klee’s Bavarian Don Giovanni measure 34mm in diameter, while Monet’s Palazzo Ducale and Pollock’s Alchemy are 41mm. All are crafted from the brand’s bio-sourced material and powered by a signature Swatch quartz movement. Best of all, they will each set you back less than $200, which is the cheapest way you’re going to get a Pollock into your collection.

The full Swatch x Guggenheim range includes:

  • Swatch x Guggenheim Degas’ Dancers – Based on the artwork ‘Dancers in Green and Yellow’ (1903) by Edgar Degas currently displayed at the Guggenheim New York. The watch is designed to echo the artist’s devotion to capturing the grace and resilience of ballerinas, as well as the use of dramatic cropping of figures in his work. It features a dial with a focused view of the feet of a ballerina, while the watch straps depict the dancers’ lithe forms and their billowing tulle tutus. The gleaming greens and sun-washed yellows further infuse the watch with a sense of fluid, balletic motion.
  • Swatch x Guggenheim Monet’s Palazzo Ducale – Highlights Claude Monet’s masterpiece ‘The Palazzo Ducale, Seen from San Giorgio Maggiore’ (1908), currently on view at the Guggenheim New York. The artwork depicts the majestic and historic Doge’s Palace in Venice, subtly bridging the locations of the two Guggenheim institutions. The iconic Venetian landmark is captured in the light-filled brushstrokes typical of the Impressionist master on the dial, with the lagoon’s ever-changing reflections depicted on the strap.
  • Swatch x Guggenheim Klee’s Bavarian Don Giovanni – Features Paul Klee’s playful geometry and symbolic forms from the artwork ‘The Bavarian Don Giovanni’ (1919). Thought to be a veiled self-portrait of the artist, the painting depicts a figure climbing a ladder surrounded by the names of five women. The timepiece places Klee’s character on the dial, framed by the women’s names on the watch straps, with the dial also receiving a special calendar wheel that changes the colour of the window daily.
  • Swatch x Guggenheim Pollock’s Alchemy – Channels the raw energy and expressive freedom depicted in ‘Alchemy’ (1947), an artwork created by the father of American Abstract Expressionism, Jackson Pollock. Celebrated for its revolutionary technique of pouring and splattering paint onto an unstretched canvas, ‘Alchemy’ is a dynamic piece that lends itself well to the watch format. Pollock’s technique is captured on the watch’s dial and strap, both of which channel the artist’s bold and avant-garde spirit.

According to Carlo Giordanetti, member of the Swatch AG Management team and CEO of the Swatch Art Peace Hotel, each artwork featured was handpicked by the curatorial teams. From there, the pieces were reimagined by Swatch, ensuring that the philosophy of each artist was accurately reflected.

“We could not be prouder of the collaboration with Guggenheim: it is a wonderful, true highlight of the Swatch Art Journey,“ Giordanetti said. “Years of unforgettable Swatch events and collaborations with these two outstanding art institutions have led to a crowning moment: four masterpieces, handpicked by the curatorial teams and reimagined by Swatch as ’art for the wrists’. Together, Guggenheim and Swatch accomplish a meaningful step in bringing art closer to people, across the world.“

Swatch Art Journey

With the new collection now available, Swatch’s already tight-knit relationship with the Guggenheim grows ever stronger. The modern and contemporary art museum, which was founded in 1937 by American businessman Solomon R. Guggenheim, is home to some of the world’s most prestigious works, with locations in New York, Venice and Bilboa, with a new museum set to land in Abu Dhabi in the coming years. Since the early 1990s, Swatch and the Guggenheim have been on a shared mission to make art accessible to all, hosting events and exhibitions that offer a rare look inside art’s inner sanctum.

In 1997, Swatch famously debuted the IRONY Special at the Guggenheim New York. Created by Italian sculptor Arnaldo Pomodoro, the piece was the first Swatch Art Special to be produced in stainless steel, marking a significant entry into the “Irony” line, which moved the brand from plastic to metal. In 2026, the relationship is more important than ever.

Guggenheim Museum and Foundation said. “We are grateful for Swatch’s support for the conservation of the Guggenheim Foundation’s permanent collection. Swatch understands Time as few others do, and their generosity will ensure that these priceless works of art can be enjoyed by the public for decades and centuries to come.”
