I really want to like Bremont. As a watch lover, I have huge admiration for the British producer’s stringent approach to local manufacture and thoughtful design; but the releases themselves have always felt a little too safe. For the longest time, it seemed that every time the brand released a new timepiece, whether it was a Supermarine or Altitude, I was left wanting more; quietly imploring the British maison to break free from convention and do something different.
The Terra Nova collection changed all that.
First released in 2024, the Terra Nova is the antithesis of safe. Designed by current Bremont CEO Davide Cerrato, the collection smartly reimagined the design language of early 20th-century military pocket watches with modern cushion cases, oversized numerals, and rugged functionality. A throwback to the great jumping hour releases of the 1940s, complemented by a starkly contemporary design language, the collection struck me as the true continuation of the modern field watch. The latest edition pushes even further into the modern age.

Bremont Terra Nova 40.5 Jumping Hour Aventurine
The new Bremont Terra Nova 40.5 Jumping Hour Aventurine is a bold new iteration of the much-loved timepiece highlighted by a deep blue Aventurine dial. That, in itself, is worthy of note. Aventurine is a form of quartzite, often characterised by its translucency and the presence of mineral inclusions that result in an almost glistening effect.
Produced in a limited run of just 50 pieces worldwide, this version marks the first official appearance of the material in the brand’s field watch line. Sharp and striking, the new watch face brings a new level of sophistication to the Terra Nova collection that, while slightly contradictory to its rugged origins, does look damn good.

Quartz on the Dial
Aside from mere aesthetics, the integration of the quartzite-based Aventurine makes for an interesting talking point. The rich dial is far darker than other recent blue dial models such as the Zenith G.F.J. Calibre 135 or Breguet Classique Répétition Minutes 7365, providing a more ‘midnight’ vibe. According to Bremont, each dial is cut and polished using diamond tools to reveal “constellations of sparkle” beneath its rich midnight tone.
Two clean, offset apertures display the hour and minute indications, which help to present the Jumping Hour’s signature left-to-right flow without taking too much away from the striking dial. You’ll also find white Super-LumiNova accents, a silver minute track and a full-luminous central seconds hand on the dial, which only help to bolster the midnight sky appeal.

Jumping Hours
At 40.5mm in diameter, the new Terra Nova isn’t exactly small, but it is slim. Measuring just 10.15mm in depth, the frosted 904L stainless steel model maintains the sleek, easy-wearing profile that field watch lovers look for, even if rugged back-country isn’t likely to be on the itinerary.
Inside, Bremont has again opted for the calibre BC634, a movement co-engineered with third-party producer Sellita under an exclusive agreement. It’s the same movement we saw in the original Terra Nova Jumping Hour model and one that I have come to greatly appreciate. Not overcomplicated or over-engineered, calibre BC634 does exactly what it says on the box and nothing more; delivering the ability to snap forward in under one-tenth of a second.

Designed for the discerning collector, the latest iteration of Bremont’s boundary-pushing release takes the brand further into uncharted territory.
